oh winter (sigh)

A few days ago we took advantage of the warmer weather and played outside for a little bit.

It was a nice change from being inside almost everyday, all day. Growing up in Logan you would think I've adapted to the winter months. Just the opposite is true. I am so not a winter person.  I try hard not to be one of those ornery people who complain about the cold and winter, but I fail miserably. I am not immune to the "winter blues" by any means, and at the end of the day I just want to run to the nearest tanning salon. (Not that I would do that consistently, I don't want wrinkles), but I'm definitely one of those people who needs sunshine and vitamin D!
Wes and I will try to endure it, but we are going stir crazy:) Hopefully there will be some warmer days here and there, from now until springtime.
Weston is such a boy. He went straight for the dirt and rocks and all the unfinished parts of our backyard. Yet another reason to look forward to spring is that we are going to landscape our yard! Finally:)

One Year Stats

I realize that I blog a little too much about this little dude, and not much else.
He is my life though, and can you blame me?
He is just too cute.

We took him in for his one year appointment and everything looked great.
Weight: 21.5 lbs (28%tile)
Height: 31.5 in. (78%tile)
Head 21 in. (95%tile)
This is what he is up to these days;
Walking, almost running.
Eating a lot better. His favorites are cheese, peas, yogurt, animal crackers, bananas, and chicken.
Loves water and his sippy-cup.
Has a serious "perma- grin"
Very curious about everything and points at everything.
Very strong and active.
Refuses to hold still during a diaper change, or during church:)
Has 8 teeth, plus 3 molars!
Loves his stuffed animal 'puppy'
Almost off the bottle.
Taking two naps a day.
Loves to play hide and seek.
No words yet (besides 'mama' and occasionally 'dad'),  but he sure loves to sing and babble.

Birthday Boy

We had a birthday party for Weston last weekend. He was a little overwhelmed at first from all the people and singing, but then he tasted the cake and had a great time! All of my family came up Wednesday to celebrate.
Opening presents. His cousins were a great help.
Grandma and grandpa Emmett and aunt Amy came up Saturday and we had another little party for him. He loved all his fun gifts and spending time with them.

One Year Old Today

How did he go from this,

 to this so fast?
I can't believe it's been a whole year.
Happy 1st Birthday Weston!

Dear 2011,

I promise to,

Complain less, laugh more.
Not be so OCD about a certain couple of things.
Be a better Visiting Teacher.
Train and complete some triathlons.
Be more patient with myself and others.
Sew some stuff.

Sincerely,
Ruth

Happy New Year!

Note to self

Don't always assume a "rainstorm" in California means just a "sprinkle."

Kyle and I went on a somewhat spontaneous weekend trip to Disneyland for our anniversary. We knew it was going to rain a little but had no idea of it's severity.
It down poured!

FYI- Disneyland + Rain = not so happiest place on earth. We ended up leaving around 3:00 p.m when the wind starting kicking in along with hundreds of other whining children with cold feet. Poor children.

We tried to make the best of it though and ended up going to some other fun places besides Disneyland.
Rain, rain go away.
Here we are on Space Mountain. This ride just makes me giggle.
The next day we saw the ocean. It was beautiful.

The L.A. Temple. Also very beautiful.
Later, we went to the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, the Guinness World Record, and Wax Museum.
Some of these wax people were a little creepy because they looked so real.
Me on the Titanic.
Kyle wanted in on the action too. Oh dear.
Genie time.
All in all it was a fun trip!

3 years ago today

I married this hunk right here...
And I'm so glad I did. Here is what I've learned about him the past 3 years that I kind of love about him...

* He can deep clean a bathroom like it's nobody's business.
* Forgives easily.
* Good decision maker and never "wishy- washy" about things.
* Looks good in a hat.
* Very smart but never makes me feel dumb (cuz I'm not nearly as smart as him:)
* Can figure out how to make anything, very handy.
* Walks around singing "Let it Snow" in the middle of July.
* Would do anything for his friends.
* Doesn't mind shopping and will go grocery shopping for me. (cuz I hate it)
*Offers to watch Wes while I go to the gym or just have some "me time"
*Eats whatever I cook him.
*Honest. Says it how it is.
*Works very hard and loves his family.

Happy three years Kyle!

We are so awesome:)
