Surprise Gift!
The other day I came home from a long day at work to find this nice homemade card from Kyle and a present.

It was this!!!

I'm so excited;)
Now that I have a nice camera I can post some more pics of our house, it's coming a long.

We painted the kitchen red and white! I love it, I think it's cute, almost all done, minus the chandelier we need to replace.

View of the kitchen from the other side.

Front Room.

Basement. I wish I would have taken some before pictures, because it looks totally different.

Update
Hi! We are still alive! I go through spurts of complete blog neglect, it's horrible... life just gets busy I guess! We are doing great, just working on the house and making a living! I am happy to report that Kyle loves his job! This makes me very happy to know that he is doing something that he loves. I'm grateful for a hardworking husband...even when he is not at work, he is always working on something, mostly our house. I appreciate it:)
We finally got new furniture in the front room, which is nice to have it all done. It's not completely decorated the way I want it yet....but it looks completely different from when we moved in! Kyle redid the walls, and everything...he did a great job!

Punxsutawney Phil Says...
Six more weeks of winter! DARN IT DARN IT DARN IT. Not like I expected anything else here in Utah, but I was just hopeful of an early spring.
I randomly remembered that it was Groundhog Day today, so not wanting to miss out on what the groundhog had to say I made a visit to the official site of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club http://www.groundhog.org/ where I found this that I would like to share with you all:
Phil's official forecast as read February 2nd, 2009 at sunrise at Gobbler's Knob:
Hear Ye Hear Ye
On Gobbler's Knob this glorious Groundhog Day, February 2nd, 2009
Punxsutawney Phil, Seer of Seers, Prognosticator of all Prognosticators
Awoke to the call of President Bill Cooper
And greeted his handlers, Ben Hughes and John Griffiths
After casting a joyful eye towards thousands of his faithful followers,
Phil proclaimed that his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers were World Champions one more time
And a bright sky above me
Showed my shadow beside me.
So 6 more weeks of winter it will be.
Gee. Thanks a lot Phil!!!....(And thank you Bill Murray for endearing me to this lovely holiday.) I just hope I don't wake up tomorrow to find it is the same bitter cold winter day (today). It may be a curse for my terrible attitude on winter.

40 random things about me if you care.
Um, 40 things are you kidding? I will do my best.
1. I am sensitive. I have definitely found this to be both an advantage and disadvantage in my life.
2. I feel guilty watching T.V. I feel like it's a waste of time so I try to only watch a little here and there.
3. I LOVE playing indoor soccer. It's a release for me when I am stressed or anxious. I look forward to playing and it's seriously the highlight of my week.
4. I very much dislike winter and the cold. I am always complaining about the cold and I think it may get a little annoying to people who are around me. I daydream about living by the beach or somewhere tropical someday.
5. I get the hiccups a lot. At least twice a day, every day. I don't know why I get them so easily, I'm still trying to figure it out.
6. I love cheese. Yum. Anything with cheese in it I will eat, I crave it frequently.
7. I cannot sleep with the covers tucked in, it drives me crazy. I have to have my feet and arms out of the covers or I get costrophopic.
8. I am a dreamer. I tend to make big outrageous goals, not following through with a majority of them, but I like to plan and wish on things. I always want to do and experience everything.
9. I don't necessarily like rules.
10. I am shy by nature. I may not seem it to some because I hide it well. I put forth a conscious effort to talk to people and put myself in different situations at work and other things I've done.
11. I am extremely hard on myself.
12. I love teaching the gospel.
13. I'd usually rather eat something salty than sweet.
14. I love change.
15. I like to exercise and play sports. It helps me to feel more confident and good overall.
16. I am very competetive in almost everything.
17. I am looking forward to retirement. Already. It's not that I don't like working or being busy. I just wish I had more time for hobbies and doing things when and where I want to do them. I wish people didn't have to work so much.
18. I still want to be a park ranger. I wanted to when I was little, and I still want to. I would love to be a tour guide somewhere or give those cool slideshows at the campgrounds. I want to wear the cool green outfit with the big hat, that would be awesome.
19. I want to be a triathlete.
20. I am cuddly. I love affection. I have a hard time sleeping without my husband beside me.
21. I like helping people find other people who can help them, who are helped by other people etc... Did that make sense? I am a social worker, that's what I do!
22. I am good at faking confidence.
23. I don't really like to wear make-up. I am fairly low maintenance and enjoy hanging out in my sweats and hair in a pony-tail.
24. I love small towns. People seem more laid back and friendly.
25. I play the guitar and sing. I'm always wishing I'd have more time and mostly money to take lessons and get better at it.
26. When I set my mind to something or decide on something, I think about it CONSTANTLY.
27. I like to walk around Target and look at things, even if I don't buy anything.
28. I am baby hungry. There, I said it.
29. I have a very difficult time with very "flaky, wishy-washy" people.
30. I have a few really close girlfriends and I find that I miss them a lot.
31. I love talking to people who are different than me. I love learning about other cultures and hope to travel more someday.
32. I fall asleep in 80% of the movies I watch, even if it's a good movie. I sit down, get comfy and BAM!, I'm out.
33. I am a huge fan of "The Biggest Loser"
34. I am suprisingly blunt sometimes. Not all the time, just sometimes I say things that are very blunt and straight forward to someone, and I think.."Did I just say that?"
35. I like to eat everything on my plate, it bugs when people only eat like four bites of their meal. I pretty much lick the plate clean.
36. I LOVE the sun. It makes me extremely happy to be out in the sun all day long. I love laying out and swimming.
37. I am a pretty deep sleeper, and I have very weird weird dreams, most of which I remember.
38. I like asking questions and hearing people opinions on things.
39. I don't like my feet. My toes are very stubby and short, and fat. If you saw just me from my ankles down, you would think I was 250 lbs. Really. And besides that, I don't like feet in general. I don't like looking at other people's feet. I don't like touching feet. I just don't like them.
40. I love FACTS. I love learning about things that I had no idea about before.

My Big Début
Well, after six months of begging me to post something I guess I am finally caving into Ruth’s request. It is 1:30 AM and I am sitting at work and trying to stay awake. Thank goodness for Dr. Pepper (Sorry Ruth I bought a 1 liter) and Reese’s Candy. I had to come in and do some personal air monitoring, looking for arsenic, on a couple folks that only work at night. It’s not hard, just weird to be at work in the middle of the night. I don’t have to do this very often; in fact, I hope I only have to do it about once a year.
First of all, I guess I should do the usual thing that every husband has done on every blog I have seen. I want to tell my wife that I love her. I’m not just writing it because everyone else does, but I really mean it.
We have recently moved into our own home (pics coming soon once the remodeling is done and if we can find our camera) and as I was putting some stuff away the other day and came across a few of Ruth’s journals (Sorry Ruthie, I read a little bit). I read a little from the one she was writing when we first started dating. As I recall, it was just the infancy of our relationship. In fact I don’t think we had even thought or talked of dating. But the things she wrote about her and I, and the things that we had done together to that point, just made me smile (and maybe tear up a little bit).
I then grabbed the journal from about a year ago when we first got married and I could not believe the things she wrote! I could just tell that she was so happy to find me, a small town farm boy from Central Utah. Well, we have been married for a year now, and I can still tell that she loves this small town farm boy just as much as she did then. There is nothing else I want to do more than be with her as much as I can. I know we have are little disagreements (I still think the dishwasher needs to be loaded a certain way, and she thinks I’m going bald), but there is no one else I would want to be with. It was an amazing thing when I met Ruth. She was all I thought about. How can I make her happy? What does she need? Can I talk her into marrying me:)? Let me tell you this. Everything has turned out perfect and I still think constantly about how I can make her happy. Usually it only takes me doing something really nerdy (Sorry, but the inner pro dancer comes out of me sometimes), or a little kiss on the fore head (Note: I also kiss her on the lips, but didn’t want to grouse any children out!?!?). In fact things have turned out better than I had ever thought. So, once again, thanks for everything Ruthie and I luv ya!
For those of you that don’t know, I work for Rio Tinto at the Kennecott Refinery. The company announced last month that there would be some layoffs and I was getting pretty nervous. They are getting rid of 5,500 employees worldwide because of the downturn in the economy. When copper is close to $4 a pound one month and goes to $1.20 the next, you know a mining company had to start thinking about cutting back. Anyway, I’m still not sure if I will have a job after the 1st quarter ’09, but my supervisor assures me that my position is needed and will hopefully not be cut. I’m hopeful and praying that I can stay.
Well, I best be gettin back to work, the Dr. Pepper is kickin in and I need to change out some samples before the sugar rush wears off.
